LOVE IS A VERB
The Big Green Lizard

Clarence's Dinosaur Harness

(The harness wraps around your lizard, curved edge around neck, straight edge around ribcage). Lift your lizard's feet and put through holes. Wrap the harness around your lizard's body, opening toward his back. Fold each "arrow" notch and slip through corresponding holes. Unfold each notch and attach snap lead. (This harness uses a lead with three separate snaps for safety, and to distribute your lizard's weight. You will have to make your own lead--it is easiest to take a small length of lightweight chain and attach the snaps to it. Attach a ring for the lead on the middle snap ring. That way your lizard can't choke himself!) Please remember a lizard harness is not for walking your iggy like a dog. It is only an extra safety device in case your lizard is spooked and jumps out of your arms. Do not try to use a harness on a lizard to take the place of proper socialization. Do not tie a lizard up using a harness. The actual lead on the harness should be short, no more than your own arm's length so your iggy cannot lunge with his weight against it. Snap the harness lead to your clothing so both hands can be free to gently catch a jumping iggy. Don't worry, a few scratches look natural on people owned by lizards. Always use a lizard harness with the same frame of mind you use with a bird harness--do not restrain wild or untamed animals with a harness.

IMPORTANT! Be sure to make your lizard's harness out of vegetable tanned suede or leather. Reptiles are sensitive to traditional tanning chemicals absorbed through their skin. Be sure your suede or leather is soft and flexible but strong enough to hold a jumping lizard. Iguanas are strong! This harness uses three snap closures on three different tabs to distribute body weight evenly. Clarence, for whom this harness was made, hates harnesses. We've tried most of those sold in stores but he would not tolerate the feel of them. He also got out of every one we tried without any problem at all. Clarence does not mind this harness at all. He even went to sleep in it! However, he still will not permit himself to be put on a lead--and who can blame him?

NOT AS IMPORTANT, BUT FUN! When fastened around your lizard the arrow notches stand up like Stegosaurus scales--Cute! A perfect Halloween costume for your ig. The curved neck and leg openings can be fringed to be more comfortable and look cool too.
